New Brushes
I got some great new brush pens back in June and I haven’t had them out of arm’s reach since. Normally in the studio, I use a pen or brush, with india ink, if I’m away from the studio, usually a Sharpie or Faber-Castell pen brush. These are great, but I wanted see what other kinds of brushes were out there. I found some brush pens online & I decided to give them a try. They’re exactly what I was looking for, portable, yet still loose & with lots of ink.
I got a Pentel Brush Pen & a Piston Waterfiller Waterbrush and they’re both fantastic. The Pentel is a smaller, tighter brush that uses ink cartridges. This brush is really great for tight curves and more detailed brushwork. The Piston waterbrush uses whatever kind of ink I want to put into it, and I can control the flow of ink as well. The piston’s brush is larger and looser than the Pentel’s. It also comes with another slightly larger brush. I’ve been carrying all three around with me wherever I go, and I figured I’d share some of the drawings from the past month or so.

Read the post and thought you were referring to Photoshop brushes at first
I need to get over my fear or doing stuff by hand Love the sketchbook pics!
These are great man. Been bopping around with a sumi-e ink set I received as a Father’s Day gift and some of these brush weights remind me of the lighter hair brushes.
It made me happy to see all these pages of drawings! Great post.
Thanks so much for the comments!
I finally figured out why the comments weren’t showing up. All fixed now, Phew!
